Why do you do this work - really?

I do this work because I take pride in building things that last. I enjoy turning ideas into something real, functional, and well-crafted. For me, it’s not just about finishing a job. It’s about improving a space and knowing it was done the right way, with care and intention.

What’s something about your trade that most people don’t understand until they’ve seen it done right?

Most people don’t realize how much of the work that truly matters is hidden. If you don’t have a solid base. The final results will reflect. You absolutely need proper prep, structure, waterproofing, and layout. That all happens behind the scenes. When it’s done right, you will never notice it. When it’s done wrong, it eventually shows. Quality craftsmanship is often invisible until time proves it.

What standard do you hold yourself to, even when no one’s watching?

One day when I was young, my father handed me a dollar bill. On that bill someone had wrote “Do the right thing, even when no one is looking.” That has stuck with me for all the years after. It really hit home for me and I hold myself to the same standard. If I wouldn’t be satisfied living with it every day, it’s not finished. That means no shortcuts, no “good enough,” and no cutting corners… even when no one else will ever see the work behind the walls.
